WHAT IS DYSLEXIA

WHAT IS DYSLEXIA

Dyslexia is a neurological learning disability that makes it difficult for children and adults to read, write, and spell. It affects up to one out of every five people and affects boys and girls equally.

SIGNS OF DYSLEXIA

  • Difficulty learning letter names and sounds
  • Trouble sounding out or recognizing common words
  • Poor spelling or handwriting
  • Family history of reading challenges

HOW DYSLEXIA AFFECTS CHILDREN

Children with dyslexia may struggle to match letters with sounds, read fluently, or spell correctly — even with strong instruction. This can lead to frustration, low confidence, and academic challenges if left unsupported.

HOW OUR CENTER HELPS

At the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Central PA, we provide one-on-one, multi-sensory tutoring for students with dyslexia. Our approach, grounded in the Orton-Gillingham method, helps students build confidence and master foundational reading and writing skills.
